Indian Political science Association (IPSA) organised a two days of National seminar at Berhampur University titled Tribals in India: Rights, identity and problems
Gopalpur(PBNEWSLIVE)PG Department of Political science and PG Department of Public administration in collaboration with Indian Political science Association (IPSA) organised a two days of National seminar titled Tribals in India: Rights, identity and problems on 28th and 29th November. Prof Geetanjali Dash Honourable Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University presided over the Inaugural Function. At the beginning Dr. Rajesh Seth, Coordinator of PG Department of Political science introduced the theme of national seminar. Then Mr. Sanjay Meher , Coordinator of PG Department of Public administration introduced the guests. Through out India around 70 participants participated and presented the paper on various issues of tribals. Keynote speaker professor Jagannath Ambagudia, from TISS, Guwahati Campus presented a holistic approach to the issues of the tribes starting from colonial period to today’s content. Chief guest professor Jayant Kumar Mahapatra elucidated the causes of deprivation & encouraged everyone to have sustainable solution. Distinguished guest professor Sanjeev Kumar Sharma highlighted the need for positive interventionist approach of the state. Guest of Honour Sukanta Kumar Tripathi described the role of Political scientists in the tribal studies. Chair Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University Professor Geetanjali Dash concluded the session while highlighting the various aspects of tribal deprivation & as well as development. At last Dr. Sharada Prasanna Raut, Asst. Professor of PG Department of Political science offered a vote of thanks.
PG Department of political science & public Administrated organised professor Harihara Das memorial lecture in the evening of 28th November where chief speaker professor Manaranjan Mohanty former professor of Political science University of Delhi gave a historic speech on the changing terms of discourse in the contemporary world. professor Bijaya Bohidar chaired the session while highlighting on democratic & evidential test in the evolution of knowledge and discourse. At last Dr. Keertimayee Routraya Faculty of PG Department of Political science, Berhampur University offered a vote of thanks.
On the evening students of Political Science and Public Administration have organized a cultural programme named “ADI SANSKRITI”
On 29th November 2023, in the plenary session II where chief speaker Panchanan Chattopadhyay, Chair prof. Premananda Panda and Prof. Jitendra Sahoo elucidated on the larger picture of tribals and their deprivation at multiple levels. At last Miss Sandhya Rani Behera, faculty from PG department of Political science offered a vote of thanks.
At the end in the valedictory ceremony Chief guest Prof. Manoranjan Mohanty mentioned about how politics represent the power structure, defend and resist it. Keynote speaker Prof. Premananda Panda conceptualised tribal right and identity crisis. Guest of honour prof Susant Kumar Baral graced the event. This session was chaired by Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University, Prof. Geetanjali Dash. At last Mr. Sanjay Meher coordinator of Public administration organising secretary of the seminar offered a vote of thanks .
