Berhampur (PBNEWSLIVE) Inauguration of “Plant Tissue Culture and Transgenic Lab” at the Department of Biotechnology

To advance biotechnology research, a new “Plant Tissue Culture and Transgenic Lab” has been set up in the Postgraduate Department of Biotechnology at Berhampur University. The lab was inaugurated on June 28, 2024, by Prof. Geetanjali Dash, the Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University, accompanied by Registrar Mr. Sachidananda Nayak.
On this occasion, Prof. Dash visited various classrooms and laboratories within the department and expressed her satisfaction with the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. She interacted with the Research Scholars and M.Sc. students, stressing their crucial role in utilizing the available resources to bring glory to the University. Prof. Dash emphasized the importance of exploring the new facilities for advancing research and innovation in Biotechnology.
Mr. Sachidananda Nayak, Registrar, also praised the new infrastructure, noting that it is among the best in the state and highly suitable for conducting advanced research in Biotechnology. His words of praise instilled a sense of pride and confidence in the audience about the new lab.
The newly inaugurated Plant Tissue Culture and Transgenic Lab will focus on the micropropagation of medicinal plants and enhance the production of target metabolites through transgenesis and genetic engineering.
All the faculty members attended the event, including Prof. Jogeswar Panigrahi, Dr. Sushil K. Pathak, Dr. Manoj K. Panda, Dr. Saswat S. Mohapatra, Dr. Sunil Kumar Behera, Dr. Aditya K. Panda, and Mr. Tapan K. Singh Nayak. Research scholars and M.Sc. students of the department were also in attendance.
